Reflexology is a pressure technique, which is applied to the feet (or the hands if more appropriate) and is based on the principle that all the organs and structures of the body are mapped or mirrored in miniature on the feet (or hands). Reflexology can help to relieve tension, encourage relaxation, improve mood and aid sleep, though some people use it to help with more specific health challenges .
The principles of Reflexology as we know them today were developed in America in the early 1900s and introduced to Britain in the 1960s, although some form of foot massage has been used all over the world for centuries.
People of all ages can benefit from Reflexology.
What to expect from a treatment:
- Treatment takes place with the client reclining comfortably on a therapy couch or reflexology chair
- Socks/tights will need to be removed
- The therapist will apply gentle, but firm pressure, to the soles, top of the feet and the toes or hands if more appropriate.
- Any product used will be paraben and SLS free
